What is a Dybbuk?
Traditionally, dybbuks (pronounced dibūq), or dybbukim, are spirits of the dead who possess the bodies and souls of those who have died. Once it has achieved its supposed goal or been exorcised, the dybbuk will leave the host's body. Dybbuk comes from the Hebrew word דָּבַק (dāḇaq) meaning "cling".In Gira's case, she inhabits the bodies of those who have passed on from unnatural causes. Hosts will visually appear to be the same as when they were alive. However, they will acquire a permanent mark on their body relating to how they died. The eyes of a dybbuk host also appear...off. These unnatural changes will disappear when, or if, the dybbuk leaves the body.Very little is known about these spirits. To this day you might still be able to recognize these creatures by their eyes, the patterns on their skin, and the trail of destruction that follows them.
How do you pronounce Gira?
That, my friend, is up to you! The G can be hard, like in "geyser," or soft as in "gentle." Or perhaps you'd prefer a rolled R instead of a sharp one? A name means different things to different people, and I like the fluidity that comes with it.
Does your masc form have a name?
My masculine form can also be referred to as Gira, but feel free to use nicknames such as Sei or G, or make up your own!
